On Green Dolphin Street
Published in Paperback by Hutchinson Radius (January, 1902)
Author: Sebastian Faulks
Average review score:

Fantastic fiction.
I have just recovered from reading this novel of Sebastian Faulks. The tension that is created with the love affair in this book holds true right to the very last.

Set in America against the backgroud of the Cold war and the election of President Kennedy this story unfolds in a way that encompasses the mood of the era while allowing the characters room to breath.
The main character Mary begins the novel woth the "perfect" life. She has a loving husband with a top job in the embassy and two adoring children. As the pages fly by we learn that not all is well in Mary's life, her husband Charlie starts to lose his grip in a battle with the bottle. Her children are sent off to boarding school in England.

Mary becomes involved with a journalist called Frank and thus ensues a series of adulterous visits to New York where instead of "writing a book", Mary becomes smitten by her new lover.

The reader is left breathless as the plot comes to an end.. will Mary go for the greener grass or will she face up to her duties to her poor husband and her ever changing children ?

One-Dimensional Dynamics (Ergebnisse Der Mathematik Und Ihrer Grenzgebiete, 3 Folge Vol 25)
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (August, 1993)
Authors: Welington De Melo, Sebastian Van Strien, and Welington De Melo
Average review score:

A subject in its own right
This book is a mathematically beautiful and rigorous treatment of one dimensional dynamics. Most of the subject matter, proofs and techniques were new to me, and difficult or impossible to find elsewhere. The information seems to have been culled from a great number of sources, but is nicely tied together. An indespensable resource for anyone interested in researching dynamics from a mathematical standpoint.

Ornamentation in Baroque and Post-Baroque Music, with Special Emphasis on J.S. Bach
Published in Paperback by Princeton Univ Pr (01 December, 1983)
Author: Frederick Neumann
Average review score:

A detailed discussion of Baroque sources of ornamentation
Books concerning performance practice are by their very nature controversial, and we can't ask Bach, Handel, or Telemann what they actually meant when they used a short-hand symbol or expected a performer to improvise a decoration. Or can we? Professor Neumann has compiled a volume based on writings in the Baroque era that attempts (successfully in my opinion) to provide some clues to the sketchy musical notations of busy and prolific composers in the Baroque era. His ideas are indeed controversial, but I think that they are well-reasoned and often brilliant. His knowledge of sources in the Baroque is magnificent, and his arguments are keenly-reasoned. This is a book of somewhat limited readership. Performers and scholars who play or edit Baroque music will find this to be a useful reference with a strong idex, a good bibliography, and a helpful guide to solving questions of decoration. Those who don't have an active involvement with Baroque music will find the book cryptic.

Rediscovered Bach: Vocal Chamber Music in the Bach Cantatas
Published in Paperback by P R B Productions (July, 1999)
Author: Johann Sebastian Bach
Average review score:

Enhanced with clear background of the Baroque musical style
Laurette Goldberg draws upon her expertise as a teacher, performer, founder of several musical enterprises to present Rediscovered Bach: Vocal Chamber Music In The Bach Cantatas. In addition to the music itself, Goldberg has drawn on source materials to create a very "user friendly" format enhanced with clear background of the Baroque period musical styles. Rediscovered Bach is an essential, core title for personal, professional, music school, and community performance groups' reference collections.

Routledge Philosophy Guidebook to Kant and the Critique of Pure Reason (Routledge Philosophy Guidebooks)
Published in Paperback by Routledge (May, 1999)
Author: Sebastian Gardner
Average review score:

Finally, a clear story
For those who are looking for a clear account of Kant's work, Gardner's introduction to the Critique of Pure Reason is an excellent choice. Due to the ambiguity in Kant's prose, the Critique of Pure Reason is virtually impossible for Kant beginners to fully comprehend on their own. This book provides an excellent foundation for further inquiry. I highly recommend it.

Average review score:

Informative picture of Coe in the early 80s
A must read for any Coe fan, or those interested in the history of the sport. An intelligent look at track in the early 80s by one of the greats; this book is about the events and the sport, not ego.

This one will be every little cat-lover's favorite!
A darling set that's perfect for your little one, and you'll love it, too. There's an adorable stuffed Sebastian toy to cuddle with while you read, two small books and a cardboard carrying case. My 3-year old loves carrying this "purse", and it's small enough to bring along in the car or tuck in the diaper bag. The stories are lively and fun; perfect for a quick read, or linger over the beautifully detailed illustrations. You'll be as curious as a kitten as you peek-through the holes in the pages and find one adventure after another. Big hit!

What a wonderful book!
I'm a college student, and my roomie, from Australia, read this book to me. It's not only a wonderful book with whimsical value for a college girl, but also gives great lessons for children about rehabbing animals. The pictures are adorable!
